Our pastoral staff is comprised of three full-time pastors. In addition, we have three retired pastors who function as elders. Their ministry is in line with the mission, vision, and values of Faith Baptist Church and is tied to the teaching and equipping of its members.
PASTORS
Matthias Otto Matt serves as the lead pastor at FBC. He and his wife, Krista, have been part of the ministry for 28 years. He is a graduate of Cedarville University, loves to read, hike, and travel. Krista and Matt have two adult children, a son and a daughter.
Alvin Cheng Alvin has attended FBC since 2010 before joining the staff in 2018. His wife, Carrie, grew up at FBC. He currently serves as the associate pastor responsible for discipleship and missions. Alvin coached collegiate tennis for 15 years prior to obtaining his MMin from Cedarville University. He currently teaches the Young Adult Sunday School class, enjoys reading, cooking, and teaching tennis. Alvin and Carrie have three children – a daughter and twin boys.
Wes Harrison Wes has been on the pastoral staff since 2022 and is a graduate of Front Range Bible Institute. He oversees Men’s Ministry and Youth Ministry. Wes and his wife, Christina, have four children - Noah, Josiah, Samuel and Silas. Wes enjoys spending time with his family, lifting weights and taking care of his five-acre property.
ELDERS
Glenn Horn Glenn and his wife, Becky, have been attending FBC since 2018. They are both from north-central Ohio and have been married for 53 years. Both are graduates of Moody Bible Institute and love the Chicagoland area. Prior to his retirement, Glenn pastored three churches. He loves hanging out with his family, traveling, antique clocks, as well as Charlie Brown and the Peanuts. Glenn and Becky have three adult children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Chuck Johnson Chuck has enjoyed serving FBC for the past ten years in pastoral care, membership assistance, AWANA Club, preaching and teaching, and facilitating a D-group. After graduation from Moody Bible Institute, Chuck and his late wife Valerie served churches in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Kansas and Ohio. Chuck has two children and four grandchildren. He loves reading biographies, especially those of missionary pioneers, and doing crossword puzzles and other word games.
Jim Rupp Jim and his wife, Shirley, have been at FBC for almost six years. Prior to serving at FBC, Jim ministered as an interim and as a lead pastor in two Ohio churches. He currently teaches an adult Sunday school class. His interests include collecting “old” advertising signs, working in the yard, raising cattle, and visiting the neighbors on his Gator.
