Our deacons serve under the direction of the pastors and elders by assisting them in performing duties throughout their time of service. Their ministry is in line with the mission, vision, and values of Faith Baptist Church and is tied to the care and fellowship of the FBC community.

Brian Van Winkle Brian and Bonnie have been a part of FBC for more almost 30 years. They have two adult daughters, Olivia and Kaylee, and one grandson. While Brian has previously served the deacon team as treasurer, he currently functions as chairman. He has also taught adult Sunday School classes and currently co-leads a class for young married couples. In his spare time, Brian enjoys weightlifting, hiking, shooting sports, and spending time with his family.

John Oleson John and his wife, Lisa, have been at FBC for ten years. They are excited to have two adult children and three adorable grandchildren. Besides serving as the deacon team’s secretary, John is co-teaching the young couple’s Sunday school class. Besides serving the church family, John enjoys the outdoors, by going camping, hiking, biking, fishing, and other sporting activities.

Chris Hagner Chris and Lorna have been active at FBC for almost 18 years. He is responsible for the maintenace needs at FBC. In his free time, Chris enjoys the outdoors and hunting. Their two adult sons have been part of their ministry journey.

Bruce Giehl Bruce and his wife, Dawn, have been attending and serving FBC since 2014. The two recently celebrated 50 years of marriage and have three adult children, 19 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren! Bruce is active in the Awana ministry. Since he also has a desire to see the church facilities properly maintained to serve the church family, it is common to see him working on various projects throughout the week. When they are not serving the church family, Bruce and Dawn enjoy spending time with their family, biking, and kayaking.

Bruce Kreidler Bruce and Bunty have been at FBC for eight years. The two have one adult daughter. Bruce is a chef by trade and uses his talents to encourage God’s people and serve in a variety of ministries. He organizes fellowship Sundays, vacation Bible school snacks, and a variety of other all-church events. Bruce is also involved in leading the worship in our 8:30 a.m. service. When he has time, Bruce enjoys bike riding with Bunty, fixing things, and reading biographies of the saints of old.

Jon Penko Jon and his wife, Sherri have been serving at FBC for a little over 20 years. They have been married for 33 years and have three adult sons. Much of their focus has been on children’s ministries. Jon and Sherri were instrumental in introducing AWANA at FBC and served as Commander since its beginning 15 years ago. He and Sheri are also involved in Trail Life and American Heritage Girls (AHG) troops, both of which are chartered by FBC. Additionally, Jon is involved with the praise band, sound room, live streaming and VBS. When not at the church, Jon enjoys gardening, foraging, swimming, hiking, backpacking, camping, canoeing/kayaking, robotics and relaxing on a beach.

Bob Qualls Bob and Crystal have been a part of the FBC family for more than 35 years. He and his wife, Crystal were married in 2002 and have a son named Mason. Bob has also been a dedicated member of the worship team since its inception, playing the drums. As a deacon, he's responsible for building and property care. In his free time, Bob enjoys drumming, camping, and tinkering in his wood shop, as well as spending time with family.

Care Groups

Every church needs to determine what the deacons' role will be in caring for the church family. At FBC, the church community is divided equally among the number of deacons serving. Each deacon is responsible for their corresponsing group members, taking personal interest and responsibilty for their "Deacon Care Group".
